UP TO 2″ OF SNOW POSSIBLE STARTING AT 3AM TUESDAY MORNING (2/20)

NWS (National Weather Service) is Forecasting:

Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 2 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected from 3 AM to 3 PM Wednesday

TIU Facilities Services will access conditions during the early morning hours and into and will dispatch 2 trucks and 2 tractors around 5am or 6am.  Facilities Services will be applying 100% salt brine, followed by rack salt (as ice develops) on sidewalks and roads as needed.

Snow shovelers Early in the morning (around 5am or 6am) please check your area for snow and/or icy conditions. Shovel as needed and apply salt to your areas . Please have your area salted and cared for by your 6am or 7am morning building time assignment.

 

2″ TO 4″ OF SNOW EXPECTED TODAY (2/17) INTO MONDAY MORNING (2/18)

NWS (National Weather Service) is Forecasting: Snow accumulations of 2 to 4
inches expected, with a few locally higher amounts of 5 inches possible.

Facility Services Has dispatched our first crew of trucks and tractors this morning. A second crew of trucks and tractors will be dispatched as the snow progresses. Facility Services team will be spraying 100% salt brine on all paved and sidewalk surfaces once all the roadways and sidewalks are cleared of snow.

Accuweather is forecasting 1″ to 4″ of snow to begin falling  around 6:00 pm tonight turning to rain or possible freezing rain overnight.

TIU Facilities Services will access conditions during the evening hours and into the early am hours if we need to dispatch a truck and tractor with salt to keep roads and sidewalks safe. Facilities Services will be applying rock salt on sidewalks and roads as needed.

Snow shovelers In the evening and into the early am hours please check your area for snow or  icy conditions. If necessary, shovel apply salt as needed to your areas throughout . In the morning  please re-check your area once again and shovel and salt as needed – Please have your area salted and cared for by your 6am or 7am morning building time assignment.

Ice Storm Warning from 6pm this evening (2/5) to 6am Wednesday morning (2/6)

NWS (National Weather Service) Has issued an Ice Storm Warning from 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM WEDNESDAY:

“Significant icing expected due to freezing rain. Ice accumulations of one tenth to four tenths of an inch expected…  with the highest ice amounts along and northwest of a line from…  Some snow and sleet may mix with the freezing rain early in the evening.

TIU Facilities Services will access conditions during the evening hours and into the early am hours as to when to dispatch a truck and tractor with salt to keep roads and sidewalks safe. Facilities Services will be applying rock salt on sidewalks and roads as needed.

Snow shovelers In the evening and into the early am hours please check your area for icy conditions. If necessary, using your salt spreader and the granular salt from the buckets apply salt as needed to your areas. Then in the morning check your area once again and salt as needed and please have your area salted and cared for by your 6am or 7am morning building time assignment.

6″ TO 9″ OF SNOW BEGINNING AT 9PM TONIGHT (1/27) TO 6PM MONDAY (1/28)

NWS (National Weather Service) is Forecasting: Heavy snow and blowing snow tonight with freezing drizzle likely at times Monday. Snow rates overnight into early morning are likely to exceed an inch per hour at times. This will result in very low visibilities and rapid snow accumulations into the early morning commute. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze expected.

Facility Services will dispatch our first crew of trucks and tractors sometime overnight or the early am hours of Monday morning once there is 2″ on the ground. These will plow throughout the morning hours and into Monday.

A second crew of trucks and tractors will arrive Monday Morning and plow until all sidewalks and roads are cleared. Facility Services team will be spraying 100% liquid calcium brine on all paved and sidewalk surfaces once all the roadways and sidewalks are cleared of snow.

By 8:00 pm tonight we will have aprox 1″ of snow on the ground on the TIU Campus

TIU Facilities Services will have a truck and two tractors on campus around 7am to clear the main drives and all the sidewalks tomorrow.

Tuesday 1/22: Freezing rain and snow mix – Snow accumulation 2″ to 5″ overnight into early am hours of Wednesday 1/23

NWS (National Weather Service) is Forecasting: Freezing drizzle through mid afternoon then changing to a freezing rain and snow mix. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches overnight. Total ice accumulations of one tenth to near one quarter
of an inch through this evening and 2″ to 5″ of accumulated snow overnight.

TIU Facilities Services –  FS has and will continue with a truck and tractor to put down granular rock salt and keep roads and sidewalks safe during the icy conditions. . Facilities Services will be applying rock salt on sidewalks and roads. Wednesday Morning at 5am FS will have two trucks and two tractors (or once there is 2″ on the ground) to plow.

Snow Shovelers Plan on checking and salting your area during these icy conditions. Please use your salt spreader and the granular salt from the buckets and salt your area to keep them safe. Please recheck your area later into the evening and again the morning and apply more granular salt as needed…

Also, keep an eye on your areas later this evening and into the early am hours. Please shovel as needed and once snow has abated (or before your morning building time assignment @ 6am or 7am).

Once you make a final clear of your area and use granular salt around all your areas (not just steps and stairs).

WEEKEND FORECAST: FRIDAY 1/18 INTO SUNDAY MORNING 1/20 – TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 7″- 11″

AccuWeather is calling for Winter Storm warning starting this afternoon around 5pm on Friday expecting accumulations of around 5″ – 7″ by  noon on Saturday.

Lake affect snow will begin by 6pm Saturday accumulating another 2″ to 4″ of snow which will taper off around 7am on Sunday morning. 

Facility Services will dispatch our first crew of two trucks and two tractors sometime overnight or the early am hours of Saturday morning once there is 2″ on the ground. These will plow throughout the morning hours and into Saturday afternoon.

A second crew of two trucks and one tractor will arrive Saturday afternoon and plow throughout into the late evening.

A final crew of three trucks and one tractor will arrive Sunday morning and plow until all sidewalks and roads are cleared (two tractors will arrive later in the afternoon). Facility Services team will be spraying 100% liquid calcium brine on all paved and sidewalk surfaces once all the roadways and sidewalks are cleared of snow.

AccuWeather is calling for a:
“BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST MONDAY…

“Blizzard conditions expected. Winds gusting as high as
45 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow.
Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Total snow
accumulations of 7 to 11 inches are expected, from 6 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Monday, with the worst conditions from 9 PM Sunday to 4AM Monday.”

Facility Services will dispatch our first crew of three trucks and two tractors sometime tonight once there is 2″ on the ground. These will plow throughout the morning hours.

A second crew of trucks and tractors will arrive Monday Morning and plow throughout the the remainder of the storm.

Once all sidewalks and roads are cleared of snow the Facility Services team will be spraying 100% salt brine on all paved and sidewalk surfaces.

Facility Services will dispatch a tractor and truck early in the morning to plow and or put down granular salt on all paved and sidewalk surfaces as needed.
